Description
A fluxgate gradiometer survey was conducted to inform a proposed extension to the limestone quarry at Little Ponton. A number of pit and ditch-like magnetic anomalies were recorded, along with the remains of possible former quarry pits. {1}
Subsequent trial trenching on the site confirmed the presence of a back-filled quarry pit of post-medieval date, but confirmed the other magnetic anomalies as being of natural geological origin (see ELI 12399).
