Description
A metal dector survey was carried out as part of a desk-based assessment prior to proposed development. The purpose of the survey was to attempt to locate material related to the Civil War battle of Gainsborough, thought to have taken place in the vicinity of this site. However nothing of archaeological interest was found and it is assumed that the site of the battle was elsewhere. {1}
