Full Description

The school building appears to be purpose-built after the 1870 Education Act. It is present on both the 1887 Ordnance Survey map of the village and the 1906 map. {1}{2}{3} White's 1856 Directory of Lincolnshire lists a Joseph Spencer as the school master for Glentworth. {4} Records of Glentworth County school state that the school was originally opened in 1840 as a parochial school but it was rebuilt in 1876, creating the building which is still in existence today. It was taken over by Lindsey County Council in 1920, becoming Glentworth Council School, and from 1947 Glentworth County School. The School officially closed on 19th December 1969, with the children transferred to Hemswell RAF school. {5}
