An impressive red-brick former school dating from shortly after the 1870 Education Act was passed. The building has a datestone of 1873. The school is depicted on both the 1887 and the 1906 Ordnance Survey maps. {1}{2}{3} Rex Russell dates the formation of the local school board to 1873, which is concordant with the datestone. {4} This date is further corroborated by documents from the Lincolnshire Archives, which suggest that the school was opened on the 1st January 1873 and was administered until 1903 as Keelby Board School. It became Keelby Council School in 1903, and Keelby County School in 1947. From June 1936, older pupils were transferred to Immingham Senior School. The first phase of new premises was opened in June 1973 and the school appears to have fully moved out of the building by 1999. The building is now used as a library and youth centre. {5}
