It is uncertain, due to the substantial nature of the 20th Century modifications whether the shell is indeed a Victorian school. On preliminary observation through Google Earth, an educated suggestion is that this is so. {1} The building footprint is present on the 1906 and the 1887 maps. {2}{3} White's Directory of Lincolnshire for 1856 was consulted, but there is no school mentioned. {4} This is reinforced by an 1855 return from the local curate quoted in Rex Russell, which suggested that 'a school has been tried more than once and found utterly impracticable in so small a parish'. {5} Documents from the Lincolnshire archives state that the school was built in 1871 as a parochial school, and known as Kirmond-le-Mire Mixed School. It was known as Kirmond le Mire CE School by 1913. From January 1947 senior children were transferred to Market Rasen Modern School. The school was closed on 18 December 1970, with the children transferred to Binbrook CE School. {6}
