Full Description
This building appears to be a brick-built mid-Victorian building covered in white render. The school building was built in 1866. {1}{2}
The building is present on both the 1887 and the 1906 Ordnance Survey maps of Lincolnshire. {3}{4}
White's 1856 Directory of Lincolnshire does not mention a school, but it does make reference to a schoolmaster, a William Hindley, in the parish. {5}
An endowed school was founded in North Owersby in 1705 but its site is not known. The Victorian school was known by several names in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, including Owersby Parochial School, North Owersby National School, and by the 1930s as Owersby CE School. In July 1937 senior pupils were transferred to Market Rasen Senior Council School. The school was closed on 18 July 1979, with the children transferred to Osgodby School. {2}
