Full Description

A small number of medieval to early-post medieval artefacts were recovered from this location in May 2015, during metal detecting on land off Mere Road. The assemblage consisted of a variety of different metal artefacts, including two pieces from copper alloy cauldrons, a D-shaped iron buckle, a lead fishing line sinker, a copper alloy belt fitting, a large iron cart stud and a copper alloy double looped shoe buckle of 17th century date. The assemblage was scattered randomly within the investigation area, and was thought to represent instances of causal loss or manuring scatters, rather than specific occupation debris. {1}{2}
