Full Description
The remains of a pit of uncertain date was recorded in this location in January 2016, during trial trenching on land off Sunnydale Close. The pit measured approximately 1m in diameter and was 0.75m in depth. It was steep-sided with a flat base, and had been lined with a layer of clay. No dating material was recovered from the feature, although it lay in close proximity to a large spread of medieval saltmaking debris (see PRN 27255), and was thought to be possibly associated with the former saltworking activities in this area. {1}{2}
