A surviving medieval gatehouse built in the early 13th century is now a small country house. The original Scrivelsby Court is no longer extant.

Full Description
The site of Scrivelsby Court. The original Scrivelsby Court has been demolished except for outbuildings at TF2699 6603 and TF2699 6606. It was the home of the Dymokes, Champions of England since the time of Richard II. The Old Gate House and office block at TF2699 6603 retains 14th to 16th century features, but is mainly Georgian or later in date. The remains of an ornamental moat can be seen. {1}{2}{3}

Scrivelsby Court is a Grade I gatehouse, which is now a small country house. It was built in the early 13th century, with alterations and additions in about 1380, 1574, the late 18th century and 1958 to 1960. The building was constructed in red brick and has limestone ashlar dressings. The original Scrivelsby Court was a two storey country house of timber and brick. It had a 15th century range surrounded by additions of the 16th and 17th centuries and with a large early 19th century wing. It had an irregular plan and was much altered. {7}
Scrivelsby Court was the subject of a building survey, conducted in September 1992. The survey provided a detailed historical background of the surviving building and its historical development. {8}
Court Wilderness, Scrivelsby. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. Regular courtyard of L plan. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. There has been a partial loss (less than 50%) of traditional buildings. Located within a Church and/or Manor farm group. Large modern sheds are located on the site. {9}
