Full Description

PRN 43169 Probable Neolithic cropmark long barrow. {1} The long barrow is situated on the summit of a broad, flat-topped spur, overlooking the head of a prominent dry-valley, with the long axis running parallel to the contours. The grid reference is given as TF 3161 7931. It is aligned east-south-east to west-north-west. It is an oblong enclosure with a straight east end, and convex west end. Traces of ridge and furrow cultivation run transversely across the line of the barrow. Fieldwalking revealed no surface traces, but yielded one flint blade, possibly serrated (early Neolithic), and a pyramidal core for bladelets (probably late Mesolithic or early Neolithic). {2} The monument is scheduled as a Neolithic long barrow, 680m west of Maidenwell House. {3}
