Full Description

LOCALLY MADE POTTERY WAS RECOVERED FROM THE TOPSOIL DURING A WATCHING BRIEF. THE GOOD CONDITION OF THE POTTERY SUGGESTS THEY ARE KILN WASTERS, AND THUS INDICATES THAT POTTERY PRODUCTION WAS BEING CARRIED OUT IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE AREA OF DEVELOPMENT. {1} A watching brief was carried out at Plot 1, Hillside Lodge, Main Road. A large scoop or pit and a possible gully were identified which were filled with dumped material including a lot of Toynton All Saints pottery. This indicates that pottery production was carried out nearby. {2}
