Full Description

TWO POLISHED STONE AXES FOUND ON BLEASBY MOOR, ONE PROBABLY GREAT LANGDALE FOUND IN 1963, THE OTHER WAS FOUND IN 1971. {1}{2}{3} The axehead examined by C. Moore and W. Cummins was petrologically identified as tuff. {3} Possibly one of these axeheads was seen by the HER in 2006 but with no location other than Legsby available. The axehead that was seen had not been petrologically sampled. A light green axehead, polished but unfinished, with dimensions of about 140mm by 50mm. {4}
