Full Description
THIS LONG BARROW IS SITUATED ON THE SUMMIT OF THE MAIN WEST ESCARPMENT OF THE WOLDS. IT OVERLOOKS THE VALLEY OF A TRIBUTARY OF THE RIVER RASE TO THE SOUTH. IT IS ALIGNED SE-NW, AND ITS LONG AXIS TRAVERSES THE CONTOURS. IT IS A TRAPEZIFORM ENCLOSURE, WITH CONVEX TERMINALS, AND A SECONDARY RING DITCH, 16M DIAMETER, STRADDLING THE MIDDLE. THE SOILMARKS OF FORMER RIDGE AND FURROW CULTIVATION EXTEND ACROSS THE SITE. {1}
