SMALL FLINT PALAEOLITHIC HANDAXE OF ROUGH CHARACTER, LUSTROUS WITH CRUST PATCH ON BOTH FACES; CREAMY PATINA WITH EDGE CHIPPING DARKER. FOUND IN BALLAST FROM SKELLINGTHORPE 1897. {1}{6} Acheulean handaxe found by the railway line, given to the British Museum in 1922. It is 3.1 inches long. {2}{3}
