PRN 35616
During a watching brief a limestone mining adit was observed. This had been backfilled in the 15th-16th century. Pottery recovered from the backfilling dates from 15th-16th century but late Saxon / early medieval pottery was also recovered, this appears to be from kiln waste which indicates the presence of a kiln in the area. Other artefacual evidence recovered from the adit includes animal bones, burnt stones, slag and slate. {1}{2}
