Full Description

A corn windmill is depicted in this location on the 1st edition 6 inch Ordnance Survey County Series map. {1} The mill is not shown on the 1st edition 1 inch Ordnance Survey of Lincolnshire although the mill to the south of High Street is marked (see PRN 62288). {2} A four-sailed tower mill, called Hollinshead Mill, is recorded in photographs of about 1900 and about 1920 held by the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, there is also a painting by Karl Wood dated 1932 showing the mill with no sails and no cap and obviously disused. {3} In 1856 there is a corn-miller called Thomas Hollinshead listed in Martin in the Lincolnshire Directory. {4}
