Full Description
During excavations at the school, a limestone wall constructed in the 19th century, possible predating the 1855 school, was rebuilt. It probably served as the eastern boundary for the school. The school was a T shaped structure with a large rectangular room and a western annexe. The main room was divided to separate the girls from the boys. The excavation revealed the remains of a toilet block and cistern, this block was also split the sexes, with the larger part of the block falling within the boys side of the boundary. Although later the girls side was extended. The toilets were eventually demolished about the time of the second world war. See also PRN 60811 61757. {1}{2}
