The National School was built in 1855 with a Church of England Foundation. This was the result of much fundraising in the village. It was forced to change to a boarding school in 1893. In 1902 the control of the school was handed over to the County Council. The school finally closed its doors in 1982. It was used as a church hall for a few years and was finally sold in 1986. {1}{2}{3}
