- QUARRY (Post Medieval - 1600 AD to 1800 AD)
Protected Status/Designation
Full Description
PRN 70489
Archaeological investigations during development at Lincoln Minster School uncovered evidence of quarrying in the area. The pits are undated, however they seem likely to be post-medieval. Transfer printed earthenware pottery was recovered from the fill, suggesting they went out of use sometime after the late 18th century. Documentary sources also record quarrying at this location during the 17th-18th century. {1}{2}
