Summary
Milestone, corner of Church Lane and High Street, Metheringham
Type and Period (1)
- MILESTONE (Post Medieval - 1540 AD to 1900 AD)
Protected Status/Designation
Full Description
PRN 64070
An unusual milestone in the centre of Metheringham, not far from the church, was observed recently. It is made of limestone and is triangular at the top, possibly rebated (or just worn), and thus 'clasps' the corner. It is inscribed on the east side only and reads "Lincoln XX miles", the XX being illegible although the first figure appears to be a 1 and it is likely that it read '10 miles'. {1}
