Full Description

PRN 64512 A school is shown on the 1905 O.S. map. {1} The building is still shown on the current Mapinfo map but it is not labelled as a school and it has presumably been converted into a house. {2} The school was built by subscription in 1828, on land given by the Marquis of Bristol. The schoolmaster in 1856 was Joseph Wright, who was paid out of the rent from the allotments allocated for the poor of the parish. He was expected to teach all the poor children of the parish. There also appears to have been a boarding school in the village run by the Misses Capp, but the location of this is unknown. {3}
