Full Description

Five sherds of 2nd-3rd century Roman pottery were found with later pottery in January 2007, during trial trenching on land off 1-8 Mill Lane, Lincoln. A soil of possible Roman date was also identified. {1}{2} A dumped deposit of 2nd century date was seen during a watching brief. The dump material included pottery, animal bone and probable cess, and is probably of domestic origin. The dumped deposit was sealed by flood deposits containing pottery of similar date, suggesting that these deposits were laid down soon afterwards. {3}{4}
