Full Description
Two paralle running ditches were noted in Black Wood, in January 2001, during a walkover survey along the route of a proposed water pipeline running between Caistor and Irby. The ditches appeared to be earlier than the wood, which is shown on an Ordnance Survey plan of 1849 but not on an 1828 map by Bryant. The author of the report speculates that the ditches may relate to a nearby, possibly medieval trackway (see PRN 53791). {1}
