A trench was excavated in September 2009 to investigate an exposed stone wall which protrudes from a dyke in Healey's Field, Pinchbeck. The wall had been dug into a layer of domestic refuse dating from the 13th century and was therefore provisionally dated to the 14th to 15th century. The wall was probably associated with a building which was possibly part of a market, theorised from the abundance of coins and jettons previously found in the area. The building was demolished in the mid 15th to 16th century and domestic refuse was dumped into the rooms. At least one, but probably two new walls were built using the stone. A possible moulded window or door frame dating from the 16th to 17th century was re-used for one of the later buildings. Therefore there was at least one stage of secondary building which re-used the first building's stone. Later still, after this second building went out of use, a pit was dug to rob the stone. {1}{2}
