Full Description
Six linear ditches, one containing a sherd of 1st to 2nd century pottery, were revealed in August 2011, during archaeological work at Blacksmith's Corner, Tattershall. These ditches were interpreted as an early Roman co-axial field system. Two more ditches, one containing a sherd of 3rd to 4th century greyware and two undated but associated pits were also excavated on the site. It appears that the early Roman field system may have been altered in the late Roman period. Two residual fragments of Roman tegula were also found within a medieval well (see PRN 48698) and a post-medieval pit (see PRN 48699). {1}{2}{3}{4}
