Abstract/Summary
Archive for the excavation of five trial trenches, dug to inform the proposed construction of a new multi-storey car park on land at Welham Street, Grantham. Extensive layers of modern made-ground were recorded across the site, although medieval features were found at a depth of 1.5m in one of the trenches. These features comprised the remains of a metalled yard surface, overlain by a dumped deposit of animal bone waste, and may indicate that a medieval butchery or tannery site was in close proximity.
