Archive for the excavation of ten trial trenches, dug to inform a proposed extension to the Little Ponton Quarry, at Whalebone Lane. The trenches were targeted to investigate a number of geophysical anomalies recorded by a prior magnetometry survey (see ELI12398). The remains of a former quarry pit of late post-medieval date was confirmed in the western part of the site, but all of the other previously recorded magnetic anomalies were resolved as being of natural geological origin.
