Abstract/Summary
Report on a dendrochronological study, conducted on samples taken of oak timbers from a fragment of a wrecked vessel. The fragment was found washed up on the foreshore at Trusthorpe after heavy storms in Spring 2018. Tree-ring analysis indicated that all of the sampled timbers were likely to be coeval, and were probably felled at some point shortly after 1815. This would suggest that the vessel they belonged to was of early to mid 19th century date, although its exact identity and the main wreck location remains unknown.
