Description
An archaeological watching brief was carried out during groundworks for an extension to 25 Witham Place, Boston. It was demonstrated that the site occupies reclaimed land - the area had previously been the location of a curve in the course of the River Witham, which was in-filled when the watercourse was straightened in 1826. No in situ archaeological features were found. Post-Medieval pottery and a fragment of nibbed tile (13th century) were found in redeposited ground makeup. {1}{2}
