Built to a design by Thomas Pilkington, at a cost of £1,200 and with seats for 344. A gallery was added in 1867, increasing the capacity to 434. The slate roof was replaced with asbestos in 1953, which was in turn replaced with concrete toles in the 1990s. The building was declared unsafe in 1987, but after the chapel was gutted and rennovated it was deemed safe and re-opened as a two-storey building in 1995. This building replaced the earlier chapel, built in 1812, directly to the north (see PRN 39357). {2}{3}{4}{5}
